FAQs:
Contribution Fee: INR 24,000 per participant, with a 50% discount offered to first-year attendees. Thus, contribution fee is 12000/- Rupees.
Batch Size: The program is limited to 30 participants, with provisions for up to 15 sponsorships available for Below Poverty Line (BPL) candidates, provided only 15 students from above BPL join. Maximum seats for above BPL are 20.
The first class, the trial class which is free to attend, will be organized on Friday, 3 May 2024 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Vatsalya Space Observatory.
Minimum batch size of 10 from Jaipur will lead to transport arranged to and from the observatory at cost. There are SIX sessions at the observatory.
Location of Classes: While principally classes will be held at Vatsalya Space Observatory, 3 classes (not the July classes) will be held at Jaipur near Tonk Phatak for lunar observations and small aperture machine handling sessions, where light pollution is not a problem.
Online Sessions: All July sessions will be online. However, the observatory will remain open to all students for learnings and citizen science projects in future with planned visits and observations.
Joining Mid-Course: Those who cannot attend the trial class for any reason but still want to join from the next class onwards should opt in the trial class sign up form. But other than that, joining mid-course will NOT be permitted.
Age Limit: The age limit is revised to 10+, not 12+.
Certification: The certificate the candidate receives will carry the names of the mentors from NASA, JPL, and others. However, the certificate shall be given only in case of 75% attendance. Less than this attendance will require the student to attend the corresponding class in the next batch (Oct-Dec).
Assessments: There will be a small practical test in June and a small theoretical test in July at the end of each course section. However, the marks will NOT affect the certificate of the student and will be only for the student's self-reflection. Marks will NOT be published or shared anywhere, even within the batch. The aim of this course is skilling in astronomy as well as ATTITUDE development towards space science and STEM in general, through real, practical experiences, and become part of a circle of globally renowned scientific minds.
